SarahIleen's Thoughts:
The instructors at Abdill Career College are all great people and they are easy to talk to and learn from. The administration staff is helpful when it comes to making deadlines and they have always been able to answer any question i asked them. My program was short (only 9 months) but it was enough information to get a job right away. My instructor has been a Vet Tech for many years and she spent the short amount of time we had in class to teach us only things that we would really need to know. But that was only in the Vet classes. I did have to take 3 different accounting classes that i felt were not relevant at all to my area of study. I also feel that the school is so tailored to Medical Assistants that they have not properly adjusted the program requirements for Veterinary Assistants. For example i had to get a flu shot before my externship. Not before i enrolled in school which would make more since to me but before i left the school for my on site training at a veterinary clinic. I personally have never gotten a flu shot and i felt it was 100% unnecessary for a Veterinary Assistant. A Medical Assistant who would be working in a doctors office or a hospital with sick people yes, by all means get yourself a flu shot but to work with sick animals that will not give me the flu nor will i give them the flu...... come on now....
