Colin Od's Thoughts:
Malcolm X honestly is a hidden gem in Chicago for the healthcare profession. Located 2 blocks from the heart of the Chicago Medical District, many doctors, nurses, and professionals teach classes there when not on call. My program in Paramedicine is considered one of the best in the Chicagoland area. Instructors were excellent, many as good as those I had at Loyola University, where I earned a BA. In addition since it is a city college the tuition was next to nothing- $71 a credit hour when I attended in 2007. rnrnHowever, there are a few caveats. You have to be selfmotivated. The career services is geared toward 2 year students going for their associates and GED students. They are of little help to professional students. Similarly the financial aid is for extremely poor students. rnrnThe social atmosphere was a throw back to High School as this is many students first time in college. rnrnIn conclusion, do your research and find out how the program you want to enter ranks compared to others. Research which professors are good and take classes from them rather than simply taking classes that are at convenient times. For the price, the education can't be beat!
